Control who sees which fields

Sometimes a role should reach a screen but not every number on it. A designer prices proposals all day, but you may not want them seeing the margin, overhead, or commission math. Field access governs exactly that: it sets, per role and per field, whether a field is editable, read-only, or hidden.

Before you start

• You need the permission to manage roles (the Admin / Owner role has it).
• Field access sits on top of roles: the person still needs the role that reaches the screen. This only tightens what they see once there.

Set field access for a role

1. Open Admin, then Field access.
2. Choose a role from Select a role to edit. The Admin / Owner role always sees everything and is not listed.
3. Each governed field shows under Resource and Field. Set its Access to one of:
   • Editable, the default, they can change it.
   • Read-only, they see the value but cannot change it.
   • Hidden, the field does not appear for them at all.
4. Each change saves on its own.

Good to know

• Only redaction-safe fields can be governed; a field left unset stays Editable. Today the governed set is the scorecard’s sensitive figures, so this is how you let a florist build a proposal without ever seeing the margin.
• Field access is invisible to the person it applies to: a Hidden field simply is not there, with no “you can’t see this” placeholder.
