Run the carpentry queue
Some work is not floral. A chipped table has to be refinished, a client who was sold an arch in their own color needs it painted before it ships, and some events need a piece built from scratch. Carpentry is the one queue for all of it.
Before you start
You need a Florio sign-in that can manage rentals; the same permission covers the rental boards and this queue. Jobs arrive on their own, so nothing here is created by hand.
Steps
- Open Carpentry. Each row is one job, with its kind under Job, the Item it is about, the Detail of what to do, what it is For, its Due date, and its Status.

- Read the kind first, because it tells you where the job came from and how urgent it is:
- Refinish was raised when a piece came back needing work. The Detail is the note from whoever checked it in.
- Custom finish was raised by a signed proposal that promised a specific color, and it carries the color and a Due date worked backwards from the day the piece has to ship.
- Event build is a piece made for one event.
- Press Begin when you start. The job goes In progress, so the office can see the shop is on it without asking.
- Press Done when it is finished. The job leaves the queue.
Good to know
- Work the dated jobs first. A Custom finish has a real deadline, because a piece that is not dry cannot ship. A Refinish arrives without a date: the piece is already out of stock and earning nothing, so it is worked in the order it makes sense, not against a clock.
- A refinish is stock, not a favor. Every day a piece sits in the queue is a day it cannot be rented, which is the argument for clearing them between events rather than at the end of a season.
- The detail is only as good as the check-in note. If jobs keep arriving that say “damaged”, that is a conversation to have with whoever is checking rentals in, not a limit of this screen. See Check rentals back in and log damage.
- Money for the damage is a separate track. Finishing a refinish does not bill anyone; that decision is made on Damage & loss.
